The death of Homer W. Routt, age 42 years, occurred at the Putnam County Hospital Monday morning at 5 o’clock. He was taken to the hospital Sunday and underwent an operation for appendicitis. He never rallied from the anesthetic. Mr. Routt had been in failing health for a year but had been seriously ill less than a week.  He resided with his family on a farm two miles south of Cloverdale but devoted most of his time to his work as a brick mason. He was well known in this city as an expert mason, having done all the brick work on the new Masonic Temple and the Vencastle theatre. He also helped erect a number of other fine building throughout the state.  Mr. Routt was also a former resident of Greencastle, living on east Washington street about 10 years ago. He is survived by the widow and three children, Carl, Gordon and Mary Louise, all at home; his parents who live at Cunot; and six brothers, Robert and Dora of Cunot; George of South Bend; Dillon and Walter of Sullivan; Charles of Indianapolis and two sisters, Mrs. Lloyd Darrick and Mrs. Anderson of Brazil. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge at Cloverdale and affiliated with the Universalist Church at Cunot.  Mrs.Routt is a sister of Mrs. Bernard Handy east Liberty street.- kbz

Funeral services for Homer W. Routt, age 43 years, prominent resident of Cloverdale township and former resident of Greencastle, who died following an operation for appendicitis, Monday morning will be held from the Methodist Church in Cloverdale, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock with Rev. WE Gill in charge. Pall bearers will be members of the Cloverdale Masonic Lodge of which Mr. Routt was a member. The Masons will also have charge of services at the grave. Singers at the service will be a quartet composed of Mrs. John Young, Mrs. Ben Riley, Heber Ellis and Perry Rush all of Greencastle. - kbz
